Light at the end the rollercoaster.

It’s a story we’ve heard thousands of times. It’s predictable and shameful. We had the #1 payroll in baseball and the richest owner in baseball and yet we still failed expectations. The team reached all time lows during the month of may, dropping 10 games below .500, a devesation the Mets would never come back from the deficit.

Injuries and bad luck really slowed us down and in an a era where reaching the postseason scary year. But it doesn’t matter now, time to stick our heads up and aim for the positives. It’s a rollercoaster I’m sick of riding, it’s time for some serious and organization altering change. Something that will shut the haters up and prove immediate success.

And only one man has the power to make a statement. Recently hired David Sterns is set to take the throne as the first president of baseball operation in Mets history.

The Mets locked up Sterns for the forseeible future as president. Something the Mets tried multiple times over the past 3 years when Sterns was still under contract with the Brewers. Unfortunately the Mets never had the opportunity to interview him with Brewers being releucant to hand away their lead man in charge.

Sterns who just ended said goodbye with the team that changed it all for him. He started out with the Brewers as general manager from 2015-2019 until he was inevitably promoted to president.

He turned a weak brewers team into a year round contender and helped produced scary pitching every year. He originally began as one the early masterminds behind repairing the Astros organization back in November 2012.

Every organization he works for he turns them from perennial losers to atomic powerhouses, he will be the secret weapon behind the Mets front office 2024 and beyond. We can finally say the ‘Cohen era’ has began, a few years late but this is the official start of Cohens vision; David Sterns as president.

About

Prime Time Baseball is an independent sports platform created by James Leather, a 22-year-old senior at Binghamton University with a lifelong passion for baseball. What started as a personal outlet has grown into a space focused on storytelling, accessibility, and modern baseball analysis.

This platform isn’t just about box scores or surface-level stats. It’s about context. Prime Time Baseball breaks down pitching mechanics, advanced metrics, roster construction, and front-office decisions in a way that both casual fans and hardcore followers can understand quickly. The goal is to make dense baseball topics feel approachable, not overwhelming.

As an avid Mets fan, that perspective naturally shows up here, but the focus goes beyond one team. Prime Time Baseball aims to create storylines across the league — highlighting player development, trends, and moments that shape the game beyond numbers alone.

There is also a strong interest in marketing and SEO behind the scenes. This page is built to grow, evolve, and eventually expand into coverage of other sports. It’s a work in progress, and that’s intentional. The platform grows as the writing grows.

Prime Time Baseball is for fans who want to learn, engage, and enjoy the game on a deeper level — without needing a statistics degree to do it.
