Hi, my name is James Leather. I am a 22-year-old senior at Binghamton University with a lifelong passion for baseball. I’ve followed the sport casually for as long as I can remember, but I became deeply invested in it around 2015. Since then, baseball has been the sport I care about most, especially the players, storylines, and moments that shape the game.
I have a background in journalism and sports media. I previously interned at my school newspaper, Pipe Dream, where I covered a range of sports including lacrosse, swimming, and basketball. Over time, my focus shifted almost entirely to baseball, and my engagement with the sport has only grown stronger.
This blog started as something purely for fun. It was a way for me to put my baseball opinions out into the world and enjoy the process of writing. Being able to share my thoughts on a global platform means a lot to me. While this began as a personal outlet, I keep sports journalism in mind as a possible career path as I continue to grow and set higher goals for myself.
I consider myself an amateur sports writer, but I take the work seriously. As the platform grows, my goal is to reach more readers and offer opinions, breakdowns, and predictions that feel fresh and engaging. I know not every take will be popular, and not every reader will agree with me. That’s part of the point. With more writing, feedback, and interaction, I hope to grow this into a respected and consistent baseball platform.
I’ve never been great at playing the game itself, but that doesn’t take away from my love or understanding of it. I focus on educating readers about pitching, mechanics, advanced stats, and trends across the league. I want to break down complex ideas and make dense topics easy to understand, even for newer fans. This is meant to be an accessible and friendly space, not an overwhelming one.
I’m also a huge Mets fan, and I don’t shy away from that. At the same time, my goal is to create storylines that go beyond box scores and surface-level stats. Baseball is about context, narratives, and moments, not just numbers. My writing leans toward mass entertainment, and I’m grateful for every person who takes the time to read and engage.
This is an independent sports channel that is still a work in progress. I plan to expand into other sports over time, and I’m especially interested in the marketing and SEO side of growing a platform. Building something that feels approachable, informative, and enjoyable is the goal. I don’t know everything about baseball, but I’m eager to learn every day, and I hope readers grow alongside.
