How cool is it that the Brewers essentially got Andrew Vaughn and Quinn Priester for the nothing at the cost. Its crazy underrated both these players are and usually get ignored as some of the biggest impact players in baseball today.
Quinn Priester was traded from the Red Sox to the Brewers on April 7th, 2025. The Brewers sent outfielder Yophery Rodriguez, a competitive balance draft pick, and a player to be named later to the Red Sox. Since coming from the Red Sox, something clicked for the starter. Since April 7th, Quinn Priester has been one of the best starting pitchers in baseball. A mark of 15 starts with a 10-2 record in 107 innings, while striking out 89 batters and holding them to a 3.27 earned run average. He has been all that the Brewers have asked for and more out of him. He has a 2.0 WAR and has been 23% better than league average, he is not only fantastic but with free agency looming a ways away in 2031 he has cemented himself as a core part of the Brewers future. An affordable cost controlled player with years of control has Brewers written all over it.
The other player on the list who has made serious noise since being traded to Milwaukee is once feared top prospect; Andrew Vaughn. In roughly the same amount of games played as Priester, Vaughn has made himself incredibly valuable for the squad since coming over in the Aaron Civale trade to the White Sox. In 17 games this season with the Brewers Andrew Vaughn is slashing .386/.448/.772/1.220 for an OPS+ of 238. In the incredibly short sample size, Vaughn is playing at the same production as Aaron Judge. Though its calls for regression, it is pleasing to see Vaughn finally breakout. Vaughn already has 6 homeruns and 24 RBIS which is more than what he had in Chicago (5 homeruns, 19 RBIS) A change of scenery has done wonders for Andrew Vaughn and it is exctiting to see how he will turnout along the way for the Brew Crew.
It is super exciting to see the likes of Quinn Priester and Andrew Vaughn finally breakout as the stars they were meant to be. It just had to take a bit of time before the production kicked in.
