The Mets are playing their best baseball of the season and they’re not stopping anytime soon. After a seven game road game facing the Dodgers and sweeping the Rockies, the Mets come back home ready for more. As currently constructed the Mets have the best record in the national league and one win behind the Tigers 43-24.
The dynamic trio of Juan Soto, Francisco Lindor and Pete Alonso have been heating up and playing the best like every game depends on it. The 2025 season has seen all three stars — Francisco Lindor, Juan Soto, and Pete Alonso — hit major milestones and answer early doubts with big-time performances. Each of them has reached notable accolades already, and they’re proving exactly why they’re the faces of their franchises.
Francisco Lindor has completely silenced the early-season noise and is on a tear. He’s batting .283 with 14 home runs, 38 RBIs, 13 stolen bases, and is slashing .283/.340/.500 with an .840 OPS. Lindor made headlines when he crushed his 251st career homer, passing Derek Jeter on the all-time home run list for shortstops and moving into third overall, trailing only Hanley Ramírez, Miguel Tejada, and Cal Ripken Jr. This season has really underscored his value to the Mets — the early struggles are behind him, and he’s back to being electric. Both Lindor and Pete Alonso are tied at 2.5 WAR right now, leading the charge for the Mets.
Juan Soto is getting comfortable on the other side of town — and while he got off to a slow start (something we’ve seen with Lindor, Carlos Beltrán, and Mike Piazza before him), he’s starting to put it all together in a big way. By early June, Soto’s hitting .300, slashing .300/.421/.500 with a .921 OPS, and he’s leading the league in walks with 55. He’s back to doing Juan Soto things. Just this past Sunday against the depleted Rockies, he went 3-for-3 and reached base six times, a first in his career. Since May 30, the Yankees are 8–2, and Soto’s batting .364, with a .553 OBP and a ridiculous 1.250 OPS over that stretch. He’s put the judgment and early criticism to rest — he’s here to win ballgames, and he’s doing exactly that.
And Polar Bear Pete? Man, what a season he’s having. Pete Alonso is off to the hottest start of his career — batting .301, already up to 17 homers, with 61 RBIs, and posting an OPS+ of 183. This weekend, he went deep twice, launching his 242nd and 243rd career home runs, passing David Wright for second-most in Mets franchise history. Now he’s just 9 homers away from tying Darryl Strawberry’s franchise record of 252. He’s already driven in 18 RBIs in June alone, and he’s just 14 away from tying the June RBI record held by Gary Carter (32 in 1984). Pete’s not just raking — he’s on pace to break his own single-season RBI record (131 in 2022), with projections showing 150 RBIs, 45 homers, and over 100 runs scored. It’s honestly incredible what he’s doing.
This team is on a magical run and no one is stopping them. A record of 28-7 at home is just a sliver of the magical run this amazing team will go on. Only god can predict the outcome of the 2025 New York Mets but it’s looking like a miracle will be pushing this team forward towards serious contention again.
