With the season 10 days away let’s examine what the Mets will have in store to kick off the 2025 season. Like every team injuries are a big problem and are a cancer teams do not want to deal with, but it is about the supplemental pieces you have on your roster to help with any players going down.  

First Base (1B): Pete Alonso

Pete Alonso has been a cornerstone of the Mets’ offense, consistently delivering impressive power numbers. In the 2024 season, he maintained a strong presence at the plate, contributing significantly to the team’s run production. This spring, Alonso has continued to showcase his slugging capabilities, indicating he’s poised for another impactful season.

Second Base (2B): Brett Baty

Brett Baty has been on a tear this spring, making a compelling case for the starting second base position. His offensive surge has positioned him to potentially split time with Ronald Acuña Jr. With Jeff McNeil’s return on the horizon, the competition intensifies, especially since Baty previously lost the third base spot to Mark Vientos. Securing second base is crucial for Baty to solidify his role and avoid potential reassignment.

Shortstop (SS): Francisco Lindor

Francisco Lindor remains a defensive maestro and offensive catalyst for the Mets. In 2024, he played 152 games, amassing 29 home runs and 91 RBIs, with a batting average of .273. 

His leadership both on and off the field continues to be invaluable as the team eyes postseason success.

Third Base (3B): Mark Vientos

Mark Vientos seized the third base position with authority. In 2024, he played 111 games, hitting 27 home runs and 71 RBIs, with a batting average of .266. 

His consistent performance has solidified his spot, and he’s expected to be a key contributor in the upcoming season.

Left Field (LF): Brandon Nimmo

Brandon Nimmo’s versatility and on-base skills make him a valuable asset in the leadoff spot. His ability to set the tone for the offense, combined with his defensive reliability, ensures his continued importance in the Mets’ lineup.

Center Field (CF): Jose Siri

Jose Siri brings exceptional speed and defensive prowess to center field. His agility covers significant ground, providing stability to the outfield. Offensively, Siri’s spring training performance has shown promise, hinting at potential contributions at the plate.

Right Field (RF): Juan Soto

And finally, the man of the offseason—the cream of the crop and the biggest signing in Mets history—Juan Soto. His acquisition has electrified fans and teammates alike. Soto’s combination of power, plate discipline, and youthful exuberance positions him as a transformative figure in the Mets’ quest for championship glory.

Designated Hitter (DH): Jesse Winker

Jesse Winker provides a potent left-handed bat in the designated hitter role. In 2024, he played 44 games, contributing to the team’s offensive depth. 

His ability to get on base and deliver timely hits adds a strategic advantage to the lineup.

Catcher: Luis Torrens

With Francisco Álvarez sidelined for the next six weeks, Luis Torrens will step up as the primary catcher. This opportunity allows Torrens to showcase his skills and potentially solidify his standing within the team. His handling of the pitching staff and offensive contributions will be pivotal during this period.

This development leaves a vacancy at the backup catcher position, presenting an opening for Hayden Senger. After spending the last seven years in the minors, Senger is poised to make his professional debut with the Mets. Starting Pitcher (SP): Clay Holmes
