Revenge Season.

The final countdown. What we’ve been waiting for this whole season is here. The Mets are hungry and time and time again they get beat up by the Braves and have their hopes of winning crushed fatally by the hands of the tomahawk. The Mets are not going to choke up another three game series and must take 2 out of Atlanta! We must not concede!

“You gotta believe” was the catchphrase of the New York Mets flamboyant, energetic reliever, Tug McGraw in 1973. Tug helped the underdog Mets emerge from a crowded field in their divisional race and was instrumental in helping his team win the National League pennant. The same mentality that Tug McGraw carried was the same memo JD Martinez briefed in his speech that got the Mets rolling. That in order to have success you must keep believing and cannot let the media or the news get to your head. Look at  the Mets now! They are 87-69 and 2 games ahead of the Braves heading into their 3 game set!

As of June 12, 2024, the New York Mets were struggling with a 28-37 record, but fans believed a shift was on the horizon. The ceremonial first pitch by Grimace, the McDonald’s mascot, was seen as a turning point, evoking memories of the 1973 Mets’ improbable run to the World Series.

With JD Martinez providing leadership and the team’s renewed motivation, the Mets prepared for a crucial three-game series against the Atlanta Braves.

After being swept in their last matchup, the Mets were determined to turn the tables and reignite their playoff hopes. The stage was set for a dramatic showdown, where resilience and a sprinkle of luck could reshape their season.  These Mets are resilient and power through tough challenges, they’ve spoken true to the hearts of Mets fans and stepped up during one of their most unprecedented runs in franchise history. They have a record 59-32 since May 29th when their successful run began and now they hold sole possession at second place for the National League Wildcard.

Even without star shortstop who has been the MVP of the season for the Mets other guys such as newly called up rookie Luisangel Acuna making a masterful debut and taking hold of shortstop admirably for the Mets. Or Jose Iglesias who has just been on fire, he’s in the middle of a 16 game hit streak hitting over .400 during that stretch while Acuna is batting .379 with 5 RBIs and 2 homers. The Mets are better positioned for this series than they were 2 years ago when they had Mark Canha, Eduardo Escobar,  Tomas Nido and Luis Guillorme headline their most crucial series. 2 years later and stars like Jesse Winker, Mark Vientos, Francisco Alvarez and Luisangel Acuna take the stage as the team to beat as they come into Atlanta with a 2 game advantage. This series will be one for the ages and if the Mets can come back than ever and clinch a postseason berth on the Braves turf then OMG this season truly would be a miracle season. Ya just gotta believe!

About

Prime Time Baseball is an independent sports platform created by James Leather, a 22-year-old senior at Binghamton University with a lifelong passion for baseball. What started as a personal outlet has grown into a space focused on storytelling, accessibility, and modern baseball analysis.

This platform isn’t just about box scores or surface-level stats. It’s about context. Prime Time Baseball breaks down pitching mechanics, advanced metrics, roster construction, and front-office decisions in a way that both casual fans and hardcore followers can understand quickly. The goal is to make dense baseball topics feel approachable, not overwhelming.

As an avid Mets fan, that perspective naturally shows up here, but the focus goes beyond one team. Prime Time Baseball aims to create storylines across the league — highlighting player development, trends, and moments that shape the game beyond numbers alone.

There is also a strong interest in marketing and SEO behind the scenes. This page is built to grow, evolve, and eventually expand into coverage of other sports. It’s a work in progress, and that’s intentional. The platform grows as the writing grows.

Prime Time Baseball is for fans who want to learn, engage, and enjoy the game on a deeper level — without needing a statistics degree to do it.
