El Niño is back and he is making a statement. Through the first week of play since returning off the suspended list Tatis hasn’t performed to the expectations he has as a top 10 MLB player. As he gets back into the feel of the new rules for the 2023 campaign Tatis will always be one against the nature of the sport to maintain top dominance and quality in play.
He can qualify to be a comeback player of the year if he has another stellar MVP season leading the Padres deep into contention. He’s only managed 9 hits, 2HRs and 6RBIs in 10 games played. He is slow and steady to prove his importance to the club’s success and the significance he brings to baseball in general. Not only does he have the power to be great but also the power to inspire the youth and bring value to the younger generations in love with the game.
After being ridiculed and wiped of his platform for irresponsibility with silly injuries and getting caught with PEDS. Tatis’s career has dropped dramatically than expected. He has the potential to come back and prove the haters wrong that he is capable of being a $300,000,000 player again. He is ready to bring the trust back into his play, to show that he didn’t need PEDS to help him play better that he just used it to speed up his injury problems.
I think Tatis is a legitimate threat to the league with how much young power he holds and him only being 24 years old. He was caught with PEDS only because he was trying to speed his rehab process up and the supplements he was given had traces of PEDS in them.
Given the slow start to the season he is still projected to have another stellar season. Projections of 35Hrs, .939 OPS and a 5.5 WAR in 120 games would put him on the path to quick success as an MVP candidate. The Padres are struggling with offense since the start of the season and the emergence of Tatis’s power will surely help with the success they’ll need to be competing in the NL West.
Let’s see what this season brings us but it looks to be the season of Tatis v the media. All the people and cooperations that doubt Tatis’s success and write him off after a disastrous start to his 13 year contract, he is ready to show for himself this year. It’s a boom the Padres haven’t felt in far too long.
